Hi hi hi! My name is Jensen and I’m a happy go lucky, energetic 2 year old GSP! I am a very active boy looking for my forever home.
Everyone that meets me says I am very friendly and handsome. I am also good with most other dogs except for the fact that I don’t really like to share my toys. I have my favorites (mostly balls and toys with squeakers) and I want them all to myself. We are working on it.
I really like to be with my people. I follow my foster mom around because I don’t want to miss anything. I also like to crawl up onto her lap for some love. It takes me quite some time to settle down. I’m just very curious and have to check things out over and over again. I don’t really lie down unless I have a toy to chew on. It will take some time for me to get comfortable and relax with the family. My foster mom says part of this is due to my high energy and part because I am new here and need time to settle in.
I am pretty good in my crate. Initially I may bark or whine, but eventually I settle down and realize that my crate is a place for me to relax and nap.
As far as commands go, I know sit and down. However, I’m going to need a little work to make sure these are 100%. My foster is mom is also going to teach me others, like come, stay, and drop it.
I’m sure you’ve noticed in my pictures…I am a very skinny boy right now. I only weigh about 45lbs and need to gain another 10-15lbs. This shouldn’t be difficult because I really enjoy food and treats. I even take treats gently.
My foster mom thinks I’ve lived in a home before…but I’m not telling. She says this because normal household sights and sounds don’t bother me at all. I’m not scared of the TV or ceiling fans and I know that the furniture should only be climbed on when no one is looking. :)
Unfortunately, I cannot be in a home with cats or other small animals/dogs. I have a very high prey drive and like to chase birds, squirrels, and even bees! I think I would enjoy and excel at hunting, but they say I am gun shy. Because of my prey drive, my foster mom is not sure how I would do with chain link fencing. Right now, I am respecting 6 foot privacy fencing, but it’s hard to say what I might do if I saw something on the other side of a fence and I could probably easily clear a shorter fence.
I think I will be the perfect GSP for doggy sports. I have endless energy, I love water and can swim, I catch tennis balls in mid-air, I enjoy jumping over things, and I have the stamina to do it all! I would love to have a home where I can get lots and lots of hard exercise and mental stimulation.
Stay tuned for more updates from me!
